Today is exciting. tomorrow is possibility.
Your child will be nurtured and encouraged to grow by David Lubin’s committed and caring staff. They’ll be entering a school that values both their academic and personal success. Your child will be encouraged to try, even when the first time doesn’t go the way they want. They will be supported in their endeavor to learn and expand their horizons. Their support team includes their teachers, a group of additional assistant teachers who provide classroom small group learning learn opportunities, the school staff and the parents who provide after school programs to enrich your child’s education.
Our goal is to encourage in your child a love of scientific inquiry and to empower him or her to pursue a life of choices by learning in an environment that emphasizes the strong work ethic and critical thinking needed to solve problems in the real world. Our focus on creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration is essential to prepare students for the future. To be effective in the 21st century, we must be able to create, evaluate, and effectively utilize information, media, and technology.
At David Lubin your child will be challenged and grow in our STEAM program. We have established STEAM as an integral part of learning for a future in which science belongs to us all. Your child will participate in activities that widen their interest in science and utilize art to communicate and engage them. David Lubin offers these programs in the classroom and through enrichment classes and activities outside the traditional school day.
My name is Richard Dixon and I am proud to serve the David Lubin community as school principal. With our relentless commitment to preparing students for tomorrow’s opportunities, it is my privilege to support our dynamic learning environment that fosters critical thinking, innovation, and perseverance through an emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math-based teaching and learning. Growing up in London, I have learned the value of preparing for opportunity and an appreciation of diversity through experiences as varied as working as a stockbroker in London, to teaching English in rural Japan for three years. Before coming to David Lubin as principal in August 2013, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to serve several city communities as teacher and administrator, and now continue my passion to work with our dedicated team to teach our students to think, innovate, and create. On a personal note, I have been married since 2000 to Debby, who is a SCUSD teacher. We have a 7th grade daughter. I enjoy vacationing with my family, cooking and eating, and supporting Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.
